Description of Cephalanthus occidentalis

Il Cephalanthus occidentalis è un arbusto molto ramificato e originale per la sua fioritura estiva a pompon bianco crema, molto profumato.

Chiamato anche Bois-bouton o Bois noir, questo piccolo arbusto porta foglie lunghe 10 cm, caduche, ovali, lanceolate, lucide, verde medio su rami grigi marrone. A luglio, fiori tubolari raccolti in pompon compatti, bianco crema, profumati, di 3 cm di diametro, crescono all'estremità dei rami.

Originario del Nord America, questo arbusto di crescita rapida, può raggiungere i 2-3 m di altezza in qualsiasi terreno umido in posizione calda e soleggiata. La potatura precoce in primavera consiste nel rimuovere i rami secchi e alcune vecchie branche.

Mellifero, il Cephalanthus occidentalis è ideale in terreni paludosi o ai margini di laghi abbinato a iris giapponesi, ligularie, astilbe o filipendule.
